6 BEST FILIPINO FOOD

ADOBONG BABOY

Philippine Adobo  is a popular dish and cooking process in Philippine cuisine that involves meat, seafood, or vegetables marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic, which is browned in oil, and simmered in the marinade. It has sometimes been considered as the unofficial national dish in the philippines.

Ginataang Langka refers to unripe jackfruit cooked in coconut milk. This ginataang langka recipe is a must try. Although jackfruits are considered fruits, unripe ones have the same attributes as vegetables; this was the reason why jackfruit in this recipe is treated as such. As for the flavor, much of it comes from the salted dried fish (locally known as daing); I also like using shrimp cube to add more taste to this dish.

BICOL EXPRESS is a popular Filipino dish which was popularized in the district of Malate, Manila but made in traditional Bicolano style. It is a stew made from long chilies (siling mahaba in Tagalog, lada panjang in Malay/Indonesian), coconut milk, shrimp paste or stockfish, onion, pork, and garlic.

Kaldereta or caldereta is a goat meat stew from the Philippines. Commonly the goat meat is stewed with vegetables and a liver paste. Vegetables may include tomatoes, potatoes, olives, bell peppers and hot peppers. Caldereta's name derives from the Spanish word caldera meaning cauldron.

Menudo or pancita ([little] gut or [little] stomach, from Spanish: Panza; "Gut/Stomach") is a traditional Mexican soup, made with beef stomach (tripe) in broth with a red chili pepper base. Usually, lime, chopped onions, and chopped cilantro are added, as well as crushed oregano and crushed red chili peppers.

LECHON PAKSIW

Paksiw is a Filipino style of cooking, whose name means "to cook and simmer in vinegar" Common dishes bearing the term, however, can vary substantially depending on what is being cooked

NATURE OF DAVAO

 HISTORY OF DAVAO

The beginnings of Davao as a distinct geopolitical entity started during the last fifty years of Spanish rule in the country. While Spanish sovereignty had been established along the northeastern coasts of Mindanao down to Bislig as early as 1620, it was not until the conquest of Davao Gulf area in 1848 that Spanish sway in these parts became de facto, and Davao’s history began to be recorded.
In that year, Don Jose Cruz de Oyanguren, a native of Vergara, Guipuzcoa, Spain, having received a special grant from Don Narciso Claveria, Governor- General of the Archipelago, “to conquer and subdue the entire gulf district, expel or pacify the Moros there, and establish the Christian religion....” arrived in Davao as head of a colonizing expedition comprising 70 men and women. They found an ally in Datu Daupan, chief of the Samal Mandayas, who saw in Oyanguren’s colonizing venture a chance to get even with Datu Bago, Muslim chief of Davao Gulf, who had treated the Mandayas as vassals. Oyanguren’s initial attack against Datu Bago’s fortified settlement at the mouth of Davao River proved futile. His ships could not maneuver in the narrow channel of the Davao River bend (where Bolton Bridge is now located) and was forced to retreat. He erected at Piapi a palisade for his defense and constructed a causeway across nipa swamps to the dry section of the meadows (now at Claveria Street junction), inorder to bring his canons within range to Datu Bago’s settlement. In the three months that he devoted to constructing the causeway, Oyanguren had also to fend off Datu Bago’s harassing attacks against the workers.
Finally, late in June help came from Zamboanga. Don Manuel Quesada, Navy Commanding General, arrived with a company of infantry and joined in the attack against Datu Bago’s settlement. The out-gunned defenders, despite their tenacious resistance, finally fled in the cover of night to different Muslim communities in the hope of carrying on the fight some other day.Oyanguren was reported to have peaceful possession of the Davao Gulf territory at the end of 1849, despite lack of support from the government in Manila and his principals in the venture. He campaigned hard among the different tribes --the Mandayas, Manobos, etc. urging them to live in settlements or reducciones in order to reach them for trade and commerce, but to no avail. The Moros** continued to threaten those who collaborated with the EspaƱoles. Little headway was made in economic development of the gulf region.

Kagandang Anyo

Kailangan mong mag ehersisyo.

Thankyou :)

Ang Biyahe Sa Palawan

Puerto Princesa: another paradise in Palawan that captured my heart.

The Subterranean Underground River, below are some of the things we've experienced or wanted to try that I’d like to share with you: food, tours, tips, where to eat and where to stay in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

1. CITY TOUR
City Tour usually includes a visit to The Crocodile Farm, Baker’s Hill, Mitra’s Ranch and Butterfly Garden.

If you’re traveling with kids, I recommend Baker’s Hill and Mitra’s Ranch.
  • Baker’s Hill has a nice park where kids can run freely and take pictures with their favorite characters
  • Mitra’s ranch offers horseback riding and zipline

2. HONDA BAY TOUR
I have yet to come back to Puerto Princesa for this because I’ve only been to one destination in Honda Bay: SPLASH HOUSE.

Splash House is “your playground on the sea.” It’s a floating play area where you can relax, chill and just have fun. You may also catch your own fish fresh from their fish farm and have them grilled by the staffs.

We were not able to snorkel around the island because we didn’t have much time left but we very much enjoyed the sound of the bats flying in the air as they break the silence and peaceful view of the ocean.

Bat Island is just across Splash House, and come sun down, hundreds of fruit bats can be seen traveling their way to the Mango Farm. It was a sight to behold, and while you are enjoying the view looking up, be ready because you will get the occasional heart-pumping surprise of hearing splashes. Sardines can be seen jumping out from the sea to the Splash House platform.

TIPS/FACTS:
  • A local suggested that if you will be going to Honda Bay Island Tour, it is best that you rent your snorkeling gears from rental shops along the way. These may be priced at 20-50 pesos more, but the gears have been sanitized and are in better condition than using the ones from the boatmen.
  • You may book tours from the airport as soon as you arrive because Puerto Princesa has a universal rate regulated by the tourism board. The packages may differ with inclusions such as free use of gears, etc. Packaged Honda Bay Island tour usually costs around Php 1,500 per boat (10 pax), inclusive of pick-up and drop off at your hotel (7AM – 4PM).

3. EAT A WOODWORM or TAMILOK a.k.a. “LONGEST OYSTERS”

I’ve tried a fresh one, during our mangroves tour in Sabang Beach. Our tour guide was kind enough to share their “pulutan” when we asked where to find a tamilok

We learned that the worm dies when exposed to air so don’t worry, it won’t bite. If you could only see the head up close, you’ll think of Tremors, the movie.  Anyway, Mang Rudy, the tour guide, cut off the head then used its tail to slice it open. Yes, the tail is so sharp, it’s like a scalpel but worse, because the woodworms have not one, but TWO razor sharp tails. Next, we had to remove the black parts (woods eaten by the worm) so after rinsing it, we finally dipped the fresh worm in vinegar and slid the slimy treat to our mouth. After all those trouble chopping off the rotten wood, finding and cleaning the worms, it was all worth it because these slimy treats were as sweet as a fresh oyster.

Rene’s Saigon “chow long” is one of the local’s favorite,

STAY AT BLUE PALAWAN

If you want a place to just chill and spread the good vibes, then BLUE PALAWAN is for you! The moment you step into the resort’s vicinity, you can’t help but dance and groove to the music. There are no words to describe the feeling because you have to be there and experience BLUE PALAWAN.

Next is the Food in Palawan,
